Blackout by Tim Curran

Blackout by Tim Curran

Wait? This isn’t tentacle porn?

This story starts off in a suburb. Normal afternoon of grilling with the neighbors, drinking a few beers and inter-marital groping.

Then it starts lightning and all the lights go off. No cell service. It begins. Of course I read the book when it’s storming outside and my power is flickering.

This book reads like a Twilight Zone episode or a whacked out X-Files. Heck yes!

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Omerion: (Hell is My New Home) by Angel Gelique

Omerion: (Hell is My New Home)

You think you know what hell is like? Angel Gelique takes that image and smashes it with her bare feet.

Sam is a serial rapist..the asshole. He also murders a few of the girls along the way. They can after all identify him.
This book should be required reading in the courtroom for rapist.

It is a short little book, but it packs a huge punch.
Warning:not for the easily grossed out. Sam deserves it.

I did receive a copy from the author of this book and she is my friend. In no way did that impact my review of this book. Go read it.

Incubus by Ann Arensberg

Incubus by Ann Arensberg

When I read the blurb for this book I got very excited. It sounded like such a awesome idea…

Well..it was a good idea but carried out very badly. The author rambles on for several paragraphs about mundane happenings. Who gives a shit?? Get to the point. You could skip several pages and still not get to where the story was going.
I hate not finishing a book, but life is just too short.

The publishers of this book have been very nice but dang I just can’t do it. It’s been said of this book that it’s great literary horror..the fuck?

I received an ARC copy of this book from Netgalley and Open Road Media in exchange for an honest review.

Porn by Matt Shaw

PORN by Matt Shaw

Hmm. I had seen Matt Shaw’s books being read on Goodreads for a while now. They looked interesting and I kept thinking I would pick one up. I saw my friend JaHy ❣Sugar Lumps Reads Crazy Shit ❣ HaAAARRRdy ♕ ’s updates on this one and loved them..she always posts the bestest updates. 🙂

I gotta admit. This book was like watching a train wreck:

I might have known better but I could not look away. Shaw takes you into the porn industry. AND it’s not a pretty picture. I can’t say that I wasn’t at some point cheering for the main character to kick some major ass after I realized what had happened.
Then I needed more alcohol:

then came chainsaws…and I was:

Warning: this book contains triggers of just about every form. Not for the lighthearted.
Matt Shaw just gained another fan.

What Lies Within by Jason Parent

What Hides Within by Jason Parent

Well shit.

The first part of this book was pretty dang good. I liked Clive. He was a bit of a dork but still likeable. The story flowed smoothly. I laughed..I was creeped out. Frigging spiders.

The second part..well it kinda bit boogers. I don’t know what the heck happened. Too much alcohol? I know I’ve done it too. The story goes all over the place. I didn’t care anymore. It just could have been so very much more.
I know it’s the author’s first book. I did like it enough that I will give his other books a chance.

Chester is an asskicker. I will give her that.

I don’t want to give the book away. You’ll have to read it yourself to see what is up with Chester..sneaky little booger. I’m feeling stuff crawling on me.

I am GR friends with the author and I like him. He acts like he has some sense in his head…except for his Miley Cyrus fixation. 😛 In no way did any of this affect my review of this book.

Salvation by W.A. Heisler

Salvation

I’ve always been a horror fan. However, one thing that has always bugged me about a horror book or movie is that there are always loose ends. This book takes that idea and smashes it into a million pieces.

This book is NOT for the faint of heart. I couldn’t put it down and I swear I think I ate every fingernail off my hands. Did I stop reading? Only when I was home alone and it was dark outside. Cuz my arse was skeered.

It’s a book of demonic possession.

BUT this book has humor and I hate to admit the bastard made me cry several times. You get goosebumps and look over your shoulder..hoping for some daylight. I actually cheered out loud several times during reading this book.

When the battle becomes epic in steps an unlikely ally who will flipping blow your socks off. I hope this author will continue to write about this character.

One thing about this book did bug me. The author does need to change how he addresses the characters by their last name sometimes and then by their first names sometimes.. That is super confusing. I did end up giving five huge stars to it though. Hopefully when the book was/is released those errors will be corrected.

One thing though. I will never look at these figurines the same way..EVER

Horror fans RUN and get this book.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much for this book.

There is definitely a new name out in horror fiction. BRAVO
